What they are

A connected app gives Ocai something to work with beyond your conversations: your site, your tools, your accounts. Once one is connected, Ocai can act in it on your behalf, in that app, as part of a task.

Where they run

This is the part that matters. A connected app runs inside the sandbox on your own laptop, using your machine's internet connection. It does not run on Ocai's servers, and your credentials for it stay on your machine.

The full explanation of that sandbox, and what it can and cannot reach, is on the Desktop sandbox page.

Connecting one

  • Open Settings, then Connected Apps.
  • Choose the app you want and connect it.
  • Attach it to a chat the same way you attach a skill.

Once attached, Ocai can use it for that conversation.

Managing what is connected

  • Attached to a chat — it is available there and nowhere else.
  • Remove an app when you no longer need it. It stops being available immediately.
  • Review regularly, the way you would review who has access to anything else. A connection you forgot about is a connection you did not mean to grant.

Questions people ask

Does Ocai's server see my credentials?

No. The app runs on your machine and keeps its credentials there.

Can it reach anything on my network?

It can reach the places the app needs to do its job, and your machine's connection is what it uses. That is what makes tools behind your own network reachable.

What if I do not install the desktop app?

Connected apps need the sandbox on your laptop, so they need the desktop app. See Desktop sandbox.
