Making an image

Describe what you want in the chat and Ocai produces it. You get an image back in the conversation, which you can keep, revise, and build on.

You can also start from an image you already have. Attach it, say what should change, and Ocai works from your original.

Writing a prompt that works

The difference between a vague prompt and a useful one is usually specificity.

  • Say what is in the frame. Subject, setting, and the time of day if it matters.
  • Say how it should look. A photograph, a drawing, a flat vector illustration, a 3D render.
  • Say the mood. Calm, loud, clinical, worn, celebratory.
  • Leave out what you do not want. An empty street, no text, daylight only.

Vague prompts produce safe images. Specific ones produce the image you had in mind.

Editing rather than starting over

Attach an image and describe the change: a different background, a new colour, an object removed, a different angle. Editing keeps the parts you liked, which is usually faster and more consistent than describing the whole thing again.

Which model to use

Ocai offers a range of image models, and they differ in what they are good at. Rather than guess from the name, try one, look at the result, and adjust. If a result is close but not right, tell Ocai what missed and it will try again.

What images cost

Images are priced per image rather than by token, so a picture costs a fixed amount each time you generate one. Generating several variations of the same idea therefore adds up quickly. Decide on the prompt before you ask for a batch.

Using the result

Images arrive in the conversation. Keep them there as you iterate, and use the one you settle on the way you would use any file you have made.

Questions people ask

Can I edit an image I already have?

Yes. Attach it and describe what should change.

How many attempts should I make?

As many as it takes to get it right, one at a time. Each one costs credits, so settle the prompt before asking for variations.

Can I use an image commercially?

That depends on the terms of the model that produced it and on your plan. Check the terms before you rely on an image commercially.
